Recently some important changes have been made by the Village of Lansing Building Department.

Inspections:

You must call the building department by 3:00p.m. the day prior to your inspection, it will then be completed between 7:00a.m. and 11:00a.m. the next day. In addition three copies of a spot survey are required after a foundation is poured. Inspections will be completed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for; footings and foundations, slabs, rough framing, backfill and drainage, insulation and fire stopping and building final inspections. Inspections will be completed on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for; post holes, plumbing, concrete pre-pour, HVAC and electrical.

Fees and documents:

Construction that requires documents and blueprints now includes; residential additions, residential new construction, all commercial projects, decks, porches, wheel chair lifts and ramps and any other project deemed necessary by the building commissioner.
Projects will now be reviewed by the outside firm of Don Morris and Associates. There will be a separate fee added to the permit fee and the applicant by signing this document is liable for the cost, even if they do not proceed with the project. Usually fees are $560.00 for a single family residential, $365.00 for a residential addition, & construction value times .00336 for commercial projects.

Permits now needed:

Some home improvement projects performed by the homeowner now require permits as well, they include; siding replacement, concrete replacement, window replacement, gutter replacement, tuck pointing, exterior door replacement and garage door replacement.
